Description
Terrain can be multiple different things in Cardinal Quest II, such as bushes. They interact with the player and enemies in ways that enrich the environment, creating scenarios that otherwise wouldn't of otherwise been possible.
A full list of terrain:
Bushes
The most common kind of terrain in lots of games, with Cardinal Quest II being no exception. Standing in a bush gives +2 Stealth and -2 Defense, with enemies being no exception. In fact, enemies seem to avoid bushes, although if noticed you can lure them into bushes. Bushes also block both the player's and enemy's lines of sight.
This is useful to lower their defense to kill them quicker if you have low Attack. Moving through bushes is a good way to lose enemies if their on your tail since they block vision.
Pits
Not seen in Act 1 at all, as there aren't any cave systems, unlike in Act 2 and the Tower. Act 3 Also has pits in Shiurath's boss fight, where it's eyes can spawn. In fact, in said boss fight, there aren't any walls at all on the floor. However, if you have the Glide buff (whether it's from Windrunners or the Glide spell) you can walk over the gap.
If you're not careful, you can fall into pits and die from gravity. You can die from gravity by:
Fire
Fire is really rare compared to the other two terrain types. This is because it only appears in Floor 2-8, Xiatol's boss fight. Every so often, Xiatol will charge up a fire breath attack over a few turns. Whilst she's doing this, she can't move or attack at all, so you only have to worry about the Dragonlings. When she releases the attack, she spews fire onto the tiles in the player's general area.
Tiles with fire on them will deal 3 damage every turn you spend standing on one, with them dissipating after a few turns. They also block vision, which can make it hard to notice Dragonlings getting closer to you.
